SAY IT Solutions’ founder and CEO is Karen Kranbuehl. She created the SAY IT Program in 2015 and started SAY IT Solutions in 2016 to create the online program.
A passion for self-advocacy
Karen’s commitment to self-determination and self-advocacy grew from a variety of experiences. She clerked for a federal judge and then practiced law for several years in Chicago. After moving to Raleigh, NC, she served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem in cases of child abuse and neglect. Karen earned her Masters in Social Work in 2017. She has facilitated intensive outpatient treatment groups in the area of substance use disorders and has collaborated with the Wake County NC Recovery Court through a field placement supervised by the NC Administrative Office of the Courts. As a volunteer at Interact of Wake County, Karen answered the crisis phone lines serving survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and rape. She is also a parent of two children, a wife, daughter, sister, and friend. And she is in long-term, sustained recovery from depression, anxiety, binge eating, and substance use disorder. The unique depth and breadth of her experience brings a dynamic, real-world perspective to SAY IT Solutions’ work.
